It doesn’t matter if it’s a home office or an office you have to drive to. Everybody loves plants in their spaces. It brings joy, helps clean the air, and when you are sitting there and you’re working on something really hard it is always nice to have something over there helping you relieve some of that stress. So here are 6 plants that are going to be fantastic for your office spaces.
Even if you have a lot of low light; you don’t have windows in your space, this is going to be just fine with like a little desk lamp grow light. For that, you would get a grow light bulb. Just plug it in your desk light like a normal bulb. Some plants can grow under fluorescent lights depending on the plant.
Snake plants

Also known as a mother-in-law tongue, Sansaveria, and Draceana nowadays. Going by many names they also come in many different shapes and sizes. They are usually green with some type of other variegation and various shadings going on in the foliage. They are usually very upright or very cylindrical depending on the specific type of snake plant that you have.
Snake plants are very easy to care plants. They do not need water very often. They will sit there and just grow. It can also come in fairly large containers or very small containers and will stay about that size for quite a while. They do not grow very quickly so that also makes them really great for office spaces.
You can set little ones on your desk or your shelves. You could have big ones set over by the door just to give a jungle vibe and a little bit of greenery. They are definitely low light, low maintenance, and very, very, versatile in where you can place them.
ZZ Plant

These plants come in a variety of different colors. Any one of these will work really well in any type of lighting situation. They are especially fantastic for lower-light situations as well. They will still continue to grow even if they don’t get very much light. You can stick one a little close to your little grow light lamp and it will grow quicker for you but they definitely don’t need it.
They are also another plant that you can leave for a couple of days and not have to worry about watering. Generally, for ZZ plants, is recommended to water them about once a month or so depending on your conditions.
They do not need a higher humidity or lower humidity. They tolerate cooler temperatures(not freezing) so if you don’t have the heat running in your office that should be totally fine.
Also, they are generally more vertical and they do not usually come in a little tiny 2-leaf pot. They are usually a lot more than that. Because of that, they are not as versatile size-wise as the snake plant but definitely still really great for your office.
Pothos

Unlike a Snake Plant and a ZZ Plant, Pothos is actually a vining plant. They are not going to grow upwards unless you give them something to climb. Which you absolutely can do. Generally, they are trailing plants though. so they are going to be vining and trailing you can pin them to your office walls really create kind of a green space you can set them on top of your desk and have them trailing down or on a nice bookshelf. Whatever is going to make you happy.
They definitely do not need a lot of light. Especially a golden pothos or a Jade pothos. They work really well in low-light spaces and they will continue to grow quite prolifically even if they do not have very much light.
Easily propagated as well. So if you feel the need to have little tiny jars of plants on your desk (like some of us do), it works out really well. And if you are into sharing your office plants with your coworkers, this is a great one as well. You can go ahead and root the pothos there in a cup of water on your desk and then hand them off to your coworkers. They are office friendly and they help with office relations which is fantastic for a plant!
Philodendron Birkin

This next plant we wanted to talk about has green and white big foliage. It is a very bushy plant and you can give it something to climb to help it stand out even more. It is a beautiful stunning plant. Definitely, one of those plants that you have in your space and someone walks into your space sees and then has to talk about it. Even not plant people have to talk about this plant because it is so gorgeous!
Like the others, the Birkin is very easy to care for. It emerges as white leaves and then it fades to a beautiful dark Emerald green as the foliage ages. Super beautiful!
This Philodendron does not need water very often. It can hold on to quite a bit in the big thick chunky stems which makes it great. However, it does need a bit more light. So if you happen to have a window or you can put them closer to that grow light in your lamp then this plant will be happier. With more light, they push out more white leaves. If you do not though they just push out green leaves. It also might take a while for their leaves to come out because they really like a little bit more light.
They are the only plant on this list that we put that needs a little bit more light. Some people have office windows and we wanted to make sure that we put a plant in here that would work for that as well.
Peace lily

Going back to low-light plants peace lilies! They are beautiful dark green foliage. Also, they get very large, very quickly. They grow very quickly too. So you can get a small one for very inexpensive and they will become very large in a year or 2. You can definitely start it out as a desk plant and as you get your promotions to go ahead and scoot it on over to a nice big floor plant.
They will bloom these beautiful white blooms that contrast very nicely against the dark green foliage. You can also remove those blooms if you want. Peace Lilies love to be watered all the time. So, you can give them just a bucket underneath them and constantly fill it with water whenever you notice that it is dry. If you need a plant to dump your excess water bottle water into that is definitely the plant for it.
Cast Iron Plant

Another plant that will fit dark corners very well is a cast-iron plant. They get very tall and they get very bushy. They are very similar to a Palm. Especially, plants like a Bella Palm. So if you are looking for something that has kind of a Palm vibe but you do not have the light requirements for a Palm then this is going to be the plant for you.
The cast-iron plant is practically indestructible because it does not need a lot of light. It does not need a lot of water either and it will still grow. It will still fill up a very large space very quickly.
They make great office plants but definitely not for tiny offices though because they grow so big so quickly. So, definitely, something to keep in mind there. However, if you have a one-corner space that you are trying to fill up with a floor plant definitely a cast iron plant, or if you’re trying to use it to divide your desk from your coworkers then it is definitely a good plant to put in between desks as well.
Hopefully, this gives you some ideas for office plants hopefully this kind of helped you a little bit give you a little bit of inspiration.
