Which types of lamps are used for growing plants indoors?

You can use fluorescent lamps alone or fluorescents supplemented by a small (25-watt) incandescent bulb. If you use ordinary fluorescents, the addition of a small incandescent bulb helps to promote better growth because it gives off the red rays that plants require. But if you use Gro-Lux fluorescent tubes—made especially for the indoor gardener—you need nothing else.
