What is a strawberry jar and what are good plants to grow in one?
A strawberry jar is a large, porous clay pot with small, shell-shaped pockets protruding from the sides. Plants are set in the pockets as well as in the open top. Almost any small type of plant can be grown in a jar, but green training vines such as ivy, and flowering trailers, such as some of the gesneriads—episcias, columnist, and some African violets— are ideal.
