How are houseplants grown from seed?
Sow the seeds in pots or flats of sterilized soil, sphagnum moss, vermiculite, or other sterile medium. Press the seeds in lightly. Cover large seeds with just a sprinkling of soil. Set the flats or pots in room-temperature water until the soil surface feels damp. Then cover with glass or polyethylene film and set in a warm, shaded place indoors or out depending on time of year. To hasten germination, place containers under fluorescent lamps or over gentle heat.
